Cake submitted by Tawanda M. from Henderson, NV

I baked a 9x13" cake, and cut it in half. I stacked the 2 halves together with red frosting buttercream.
I covered the cake with buttercream and placed it in the fridge, while I prepared the fondant.
I placed white fondant on top and sides of the cake. The other side was left without the white fondant, because I was going to cover it with the black fondant to create a book cover.
I rolled out the black fondant, and placed on top of the cake (covered in white fondant).
I began to cut around the cake to create the book cover. Once finished with that, I placed a real book (couldn't find anything else) under the "top" cover, so that my fondant would dry straight without folding.
I added the letters using Wilton cutouts. Rolled red fondant to make the ribbon, and then slit the ends with a knife. The flower was done with fondant, too.
I began to spread the red food gel on the white petals with a toothpick. I cut out the white fondant with scissors making it look like a fat leaf. Then began to slit the edges with a knife.
I had a lot of fun with this Twilight birthday cake!
