Hello Kitty Theme Cake

I made 2 different size round cakes using regular boxed cake mixes. I covered the cake with buttercream frosting and made fondant pearls using a mold for the border. A few days in advance I made the bow and Hello Kitty figure out of fondant.

I painted the pink accents on the bow and figure using pink sparkle dust mixed with lemon juice. I used some edible sugar pearls to attach to the fondant name for the front of the cake. I cut strips of white fondant for the bottom tier and added fondant hearts that I painted with the dust and lemon juice also. It was a lot of fun to make!

Hello Kitty Cake

Bake a cake. Let it cool.

Add a thin layer of icing to the cake. This will help with shaping and prevent crumbs from getting in your icing. Make sure to refrigerate before adding the second coat.

Hello Kitty Birthday Cake

This cake is homemade with fresh strawberries on the icing!

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Water

I blended all the items together, and baked at 350°F for 35 minutes in a 14X9" cake pan. I let the cake cool overnight. I prepared the strawberry icing, and also refrigerated overnight.

The next morning the cake was ready to be iced. I traced the Hello Kitty on the cake. Took about 2 hours to decorate.

The cake was great, and the kids loved it!

Hello Kitty

  • 1 box cake mix
  • 3 cans vanilla frosting
  • 12 gummy peaches (for the nose and bow)
  • 3 strings black licorice (for the whiskers)
  • 2 large black or purple jelly beans (for the eyes)
  • Pink candy buttons (to fill in the bow)

I baked the cake in a 13x9 inch pan, and cut an oval for Hello Kitty face. From the remaining cake pieces, I made the ears by cutting rounded triangles.

I did a crumb coat of frosting and used a large star tip to decorate the entire cake. I then decorated with assorted candy to make the eyes, nose, whiskers and bow.
