Here is how I made this spider web cake. About 3 days before this cake was due I made spider bodies out of fondant, then used a paint brush and paint black icing on the spiders. Let them dry all the way and added red eyes an diamond shapes to the backs of both spiders.
I mixed my cake mix together. Then put half of the batter in a separate bowl. I added orange dye to one half of the batter, and the black to the other half. Mix both until desired color is achieved.
I poured the orange batter in a 8" round pan, then poured the black in on top of the orange. Placed it in the oven while I worked with a toaster oven (that i call my easy bake). Let it bake for 30 mins, cool the baked spider web cake then place it on a round cake foil board. Iced the cake with plain white icing.
Then I dyed all icing black and orange, and put them in icing bags. I cover the cake with black icing and piped on the orange spider web free handed.
After the web was done I put the cake in the fridge. I melted orange, black, an white chocolate. I put a little bit of black in my pumpkin mold, and then painted with a brush all around the inside.
I poured white chocolate in the moulds, let it harden and did the same with orange. I then piped a vine around the board for the pumpkin patch (just do swirls very easy). Place the chocolate pumpkins around the cake on the board.
The last thing I did was put a little icing where I wanted to place the spiders and put them on top of the icing. The spider on the side: I laid it over a measuring spoon upside down to make effect of it crawling up the side.
You can have them anywhere you want on the cake. Thank you for reading this. ~Amanda
